In the fictional world of Shadowrun, technology and magic perfectly coexist. Imagine, for example, Arcanum: Steamworks & Magick Obscura, but only in the future. In the familiar cyberpunk setting, elements of "high fantasy" appeared, ranging from arrogant elves to wise dragons. With a small stylistic correction - the elves wear Iroquois and gas masks, and the dragon can quite control the state´s activities. Two forces, magic and technology, of course, are opposed to each other. Striking contrast: a faded dystopic future, where only neon signs play bright colors, is painted with bright, uncontrolled magic. It´s easiest to compare this cyberpunk universe with "Blade Runner": gloomy alleys, dazzling lights of colored lamps and magic sparks. According to Shadowrun, in 2011 incredible things began to happen on Earth. On the ground passed the horsemen of the Apocalypse, plunged the world into a panic and decay, after which miracles began to take place everywhere. Tribes of North American aborigines somehow discovered mystical abilities and learned to call on spirits, new races unexpectedly appeared, and magic trickled into everyday reality; religious denominations, among other things, initially persecuted sorcerers. Technological research has led to the fact that people have created a single neural interface - the Matrix. Scientific developments allowed the creation of synthetic bodies and augmentation. Of course, it was not without stereotypical global corporations. They spread their influence around the globe and occasionally hire sorcerers for industrial espionage. The full-time operatives are called Mr. Johnson as an expendable. Hackers-orcs are engaged in hacking of state systems - in vain, incidentally: at the head of the country may well be not some kind of person, but a real dragon.
