И содержащиеся в нем сведения поставили исследователей из «Орочи» в тупик. Расшифровав сигнал, аналитики корпорации осознали, что он – разумного происхождения. Правление «Орочи» тотчас решило засекретить все данные об открытии, чтобы не рисковать. В атмосфере полной секретности корпорация начинает строительство базы «Первопроходец Альфа» – марсианского научно-исследовательского аванпоста, экипажу которого будет поручено установить истинную природу сигнала.
Вы – Шейн Ньюхарт, инженер с «Первопроходца Альфа», и уровень допуска ваш слишком низок для того, чтобы вы знали хоть что-то о таинственном сигнале. Ваша задача – просто присматривать за работой станции до прибытия транспортника «Сирано» с командой сменщиков.
Но через какое-то время станцию захлестывает волна странных сбоев и происшествий. Системы жизнеобеспечения дают сбои, теплица заполнена каким-то странным туманом, а весь остальной экипаж, отправившийся наружу на ровере, никак не возвращается.
