В первое время фанатами этого стиля были в основном этнические меньшинства и молодые рабочие. Поэтому истеблишмент быстро заклеймил подобную музыку как подходящую только для изгоев, лентяев и преступников. Но со временем этот стиль, как и многие другие контркультурные течения, стал мейнстримом.
Кроме того, саундтрек Company of Crime старался поймать дух британских криминальных драм 60-х (например, «Убрать Картера») и американских боевиков ранних 70-х («Грязный Гарри» и подобные). Мы посчитали, что сочетание этих двух элементов будет идеально передавать то, что мы хотим отразить в игре.
Также мы хотели, чтобы записала его молодая группа, у которой полно энергии и новых способов работы со звуком. Главное для нас было найти такое звучание, которое бы показывало нашу любовь к этой музыке и при этом не было бы чересчур вылизанным – потому что в погоне за исправлением мелких огрехов или технических недостатков слишком легко потерять главное.
