Description:
The Munich—Rosenheim route through Germany is one of the most important cross-border lines to Austria, and this scenic route is now available for Train Simulator. Built between 1860 and 1871, initially as a single-track route to Austria from Germany, the line was expanded to two tracks and became the main transport artery between Austria and Germany, connecting the German city of Munich with the Austrian cities of Vienna and Salzburg. The line has become an important connection between the two countries, which has increased its popularity as a key corridor of the Trans-European Express and Orient Express. By 1914, up to 50 trains a day were passing along the route, although wartime imposed traffic restrictions due to a shortage of coal and slow military trains. The line soon returned to full capacity, and today many trains run along it to all parts of Germany and Austria. The scenic route combines both urban landscapes and rural areas, served by express trains with Taurus locomotives and the Taurus 2 and BR 423 regional trains, with Munich serving as a hub for S-Bahn S4 trains to Grafing-Bahnhof and main lines to Rosenheim. The 64 km (40 mi) section of the Munich—Rosenheim railway for Train Simulator includes a DB BR 423 train for S-Bahn services and a DB BR 101 locomotive with RE passenger cars for express services. The route is also fully equipped with German alarm and safety systems, including SIFA, PZB and LZB alarms, as well as AFB train power monitoring.
