Description:
One of Germany´s oldest railway lines is coming to life on the beautiful and scenic Munich–Garmisch-Partenkirchen route for Train Simulator. Located in the southern part of the German state of Bavaria, the 100 km (62 mi) route consists mainly of single-track sections and runs from the vast capital of the country to the ski resorts of Bavaria, on the border with Austria. The first section of the line from Munich to Pasing and further to Plannegg was opened on May 21, 1854, and during the same year work continued on extending the railway to Gauting, Multhal and Starnberg. In the following years, additional sections of the route were built to serve local industry in the cities of Weilheim, Tutzing, Murnau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen; these sections were upgraded and combined in the early 1900s, and on February 20, 1925, an electric train completed the first full run from Munich Main Station to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The route is served by S-Bahn line S6 trains, which travel south from Munich to Tucin, where they terminate their route. In addition, Intercity-Express (ICE) trains that run from Munich to Innsbruck can be seen on the line. The BR 426 regional train is a popular train on the S6 line, which is included in this route. Built by a consortium of Siemens, Bombardier and DWA, the BR 426 is almost identical to the BR 425, except that the BR 426 is a two-car train rather than a four-car train. These powerful, lightweight wagons have been designed for short- and medium-term services, making them ideal for the S6 line. Features of the model include SIFA, PZB and LZB cabin alarms, safety devices for the driver, cabin indicators, controls and cabin lighting. The Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen route is highly detailed and rich in features, includes night lighting, and therefore requires a higher PC specification than other Train Simulator add-ons.
