As a family of photographers who have been in business since 1906 and have been photographing high school seniors seriously since 1962, we realized that we had a lot to say to both novice and experienced photographers in this field. In particular, our family began photographing seniors outdoors much earlier than other studios, when many studios had yet to move out of the studio. One of the first experiments in this area was the construction of a photography park next to the studio in the 1960s. By introducing a 6x12-foot movable diffuser (see page 74), we were able to offer outdoor photography all day long—not just in the mornings and late afternoons. Additionally, in the early 1990s, we partnered with Kodak to develop digital cameras and create a workflow that saved time instead of taking up more time in front of the computer. By 1998, we were one of the first professional studios to go fully digital.
