Posing Portrait Photography

The human form. It can be shaped and proportioned to make it one of the most beautiful subjects on earth. At the same time, the body can be arranged in such a way that even the most attractive person appears deformed. The challenges of this task are compounded by the variety of human bodies and sizes that we, as professional photographers, inevitably have to work with. It’s one thing to show an ideal model at her best during a test session or during a seminar; but if you use the same poses for a significant portion of your regular clients, you end up with an unsellable portrait. So what makes one arrangement of body parts look so elegant and harmonious, while another makes it look disproportionate and awkward? That’s the subject of this book.
